History of NEWBRIDGE
Newbridge Centre for Special Needs was founded in 2019 by Dr. B. Savitha Unnikrishnan (BPT), inspired by her childhood dream to serve society and her professional experience in physiotherapy. After witnessing the lack of proper treatment for special needs children in Pollachi, she was determined to create change.
With the support of Satya Special School, Pondicherry, Newbridge began with just 8 children and 2 staff and has since grown into a registered centre under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016.
In 2023, Newbridge was approved under the Chief Minister Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme (CMCHISTN) to extend treatment benefits to students. Operating under the Newbridge Trust, the centre provides education, therapy, and rehabilitation to children with conditions such as cerebral palsy, autism, ADHD, Down’s syndrome, and learning disabilities.
Newbridge continues with the mission to prove to society that children are specially abled, not specially disabled offering them the opportunity to live happy and dignified lives.
